A legendary, collectible, and rare pair of CHANEL “Compact Earrings” — named so because they mimic the lid of a powder compact. A clever design move by Karl Lagerfeld and Victoire de Castellane in 1988.
This is a runway model that was produced for only one year and was featured in fashion shows. A truly valuable and rare pair that very rarely appears on the vintage market in original condition.
The earrings come with excellent provenance, as they belonged to a well-known Parisian — a neighbor of Karl Lagerfeld — who personally witnessed the shooting of CHANEL campaigns at his estate and owned an impressive wardrobe of CHANEL pieces.
The clips measure 4 cm and are incredibly comfortable to wear. They feature deep 24k gold plating.
